Museums world-wide have been developing and installing interactive multimedia and building imagebases. The International Conference on Hypermedia and Interactivity in Museums (ICHIM) was founded in 1991 to promote the potential of interactive multimedia in museum programs. It is designed for museum educators, curators, exhibit designers, and directors as well as for multimedia hardware and software developers, commercial designers, and publishers of both stand-alone and networked hypermedia and interactive multimedia.
ICHIM explores a full range of interactive multimedia issues, including technological, legal, economic, organizational and design concerns, that are discussed from the perspective of museums and cultural heritage applications. The best projects worldwide are demonstrated, discussed and critiqued.
ICHIM includes Technical Papers, a Museum Project Demonstration Fair, a Commercial Exhibit, and Pre-Conference Workshops.

"Digital Cultural Heritage V- Digital Libraries and Cultural Context"
Maastricht, The Netherlands.
As part of a series of seminars on knowledge management in the cultural heritage sector, librarians, archivists, museum professionals and computer scientists will look at recent developments in digital libraries within a cultural context. We will look at international trends, ontologies, and meanings of different technological applications. Following on from previous sessions which focused on developments in the realms of libraries(2000), archives (2001), and museums (2002), this seminar again focuses on recent developments in the library world and explores trends in converging methods in memory institutions. Featured speakers will represent latest developments and directives from UNESCO (The Alexandria Project), the EU (the Biblioteca Universalis), IFLA and DELOS, as well as national and private sector projects, which show the scope and possibilities available in this field. The course leader is Dr Kim Veltman, Scientific Director of the Maastricht McLuhan Institute.

The conference marks the 175th anniversary of the Russian State Library and is organised in conjunction with the RSL-Mellon Foundation project, and the EU funded CULTIVATE Russia project. It will take place in the Russian State Library. The conference is under the patronage of the Russian Ministry of Culture.

The conference will combine Rumyantsev Readings, Cultivate-Russia final conference and RSL-Melon Foundation project conference. Traditionally the Rumyantsev Readings at the Russian State Library is an annual event organised by the RSL for a Russian audience in honour of its founder, Count Rumyantsev. 2003 marks a new departure aimed at a Russian and international audience in collaboration with Cultivate Russia and the Mellon Foundation.
Abstracts of papers should be submitted no later than 31.12.2002.
Accepted full papers must be submitted by 01.03.2003.
